How To Make A "Trapped Color" Card---My First " A Blog Named Hero" FB Team Design!!

Hello!

I've had to keep this quiet for quite some time, but I'm thrilled to be a part of the 2019 "A Blog Named Hero" Facebook Design Team!! I'm so thrilled and proud to be a small part of a wonderful team and company!

My first card features "color trapping."  I will be publishing a Youtube video doing this technique on this card very soon!!  (Sometimes life gets in the way...) The supplies I used are linked below (afil) for your convenience.)

Trying to capture that shimmer!

Basically, I layered Distress Oxides on my water media mat (the review will be on this same video.)  I misted with water and dabbed my #110 paper into it (I might try watercolor paper next time as it got wetter than I expected.)

Drying in between layers I established a bit of a rainbow.  Then I heat embossed with clear powder the Hero Arts Koi Coloring Layer set's fish with the most detail.  I love stretching my stamps like this.

Close up of the "trapped" color.

Then I applied more Distress Oxides in shades of blue over top to make the water.  When I was finished, I buffed off the fish to reveal a rainbow!!  My daughter had a "rainbow fish" goldfish when she was young.  (Unfortunately, it had an untimely demise when her brother "gave it a bath.")

Here is the tutorial and product review link:

I put a few bubbles in clear embossing around to spruce up the background.  Then finished it off with a heat embossed sentiment on that fabulous heavy Hero Arts vellum wrapped around the panel.  (It disguises a booboo because those layering stamps don't have the total picture and it's hard to tell if it's right.  I just went with it LOL!)

I layered the panel on top of pink and black--adding some shimmer with spray mists and Nuvo dream drops.  Please check links (afil) below for supply info...

  2. Congrats on the DT! Great use of the Joseph’s Coat technique! It is one of my favorites, especially when using ink colors other than black.
